IC3 Releases 2014 Internet Crime Report

IC3 – The Internet Crime Complaint Center has released its 2014 Internet Crime Report, which reveals that social media related scams such as doxing, click-jacking, and pharming have significantly increased over the past five years.

Alerts Released by IC3 on Web Site Defacements

Recent web site defacements have caused the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) to issue an alert addressing this issue. The defacements portray themselves as associated with ISIL – the Islamic State in the Levant a.k.a. Islamic State of Iraq and al-Shams (ISIS). FBI states that the perpetrators are not actually associated with this group. They exploit WordPress content management system (CMS) vulnerabilities which can lead to disruptive and costly effects.

Alert Issued by IC3 for Fake Government Websites

An alert has been issued by the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) that warns consumers of fraudulent government-services websites that imitate legitimate sites. Consumers are enticed by scam operators to the fraudulent websites and steal their personal identifiable information (PII) and collect fees for services that aren’t provided.
